Revelation Part 13: It's a Wedding!
I love weddings! I fondly remember ours even though it was 22 years ago. On our tenth anniversary my sweet hubby wrote me a letter and in it he mentioned how he still remembered how I looked coming down the aisle toward him. "A vision in white" I believe are the words he used. Romantic, huh? But my earthly wedding--as wonderful as it was--is nothing compared to the wedding that is coming!
Who is getting married?
We are!!
In Revelation 19:6-8 John tells us:
"Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting, 'Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.' (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)"
The Lamb, Jesus Christ, is the bridegroom and those of us who love him and worship him are the bride! Look with me back in Ephesians 5:25-27:
"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless."
In these verses Paul is comparing the marriage of a man and a woman to Christ preparing his bride, the church, for marriage.
"Then the angel said to [John], "Write: 'Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!' And he added, 'These are the true words of God.'" (Rev. 19:9)
Do you want to be blessed by God? Do you want to participate in the greatest wedding celebration ever?
Your groom is ready and waiting!
