Life when you're happy and sad...

Today has been a day of mixed emotions.

HAPPINESS:

On September 6, 1958, John & Shirley Shocklee were married. My father-and-mother-in-law have lived with and loved one another for FIFTY YEARS! Wow! What an amazing, wonderful celebration!! My own parents celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 2000, so I've been blessed to have two beautiful examples of marriage and what that kind of commitment and dedication means.

God Bless you, Mom and Dad Shocklee, with many, many more happy, healthy years together!

SADNESS:

We attended the funeral of our friend, Rodney Ryden, this afternoon. The service was packed, which is a true testament to the man Rodney was. He never met a stranger and always seemed to have a smile on his face. His sons gave beautiful tributes to their dad and the message from his wife was touching. He was truly blessed and truly loved. But most importantly, he finished his race and I firmly believe Rodney heard those words we all long to hear from our Lord as He welcomes us into heaven: "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Each of these 'celebrations' were different, but ultimately they were true CELEBRATIONS because John and Shirley, and Rodney, each have lived their lives with Jesus Christ at the center of it all. His hand was with them through fifty years of marriage and fifty years of life.

Isn't that the ONLY way to live?
