He was amazed...

"He marveled..." (King James)

"He couldn't get over their stubbornness..." (The Message)

"He was surprised..." (Contemporary English Version)

"He wondered..."(Wycliffe New Testament)

Who am I talking about?

Jesus.

What was he amazed at, marveled at and surprised about?

The lack of faith of the people.

The verse I'm quoting is found in Mark 6:6. Jesus is preaching in his hometown of Nazareth. The folks there are amazed at his wisdom, but not in a good way. "Isn't this Mary's son?" "Don't we know his brother's and sister's?" Basically they're saying "We know this guy. He's just an ordinary fellow. Who does he think he is coming in here, preaching like he knows more than we do?"

They couldn't see Jesus. They couldn't see beyond what they'd always seen, which was an ordinary carpenter who grew up down the street. So many, many people today still can't see Jesus! They can't see him for who he is! They can't accept that he isn't just a carpenter who lived two thousand years ago but that he is GOD come to earth. He is the Savior who lived, died, and lives again.

"And he was amazed at their lack of faith."

How incredibly sad. Jesus was right there!! Standing in their midst. And they couldn't see him. They missed him completely.

What about you? Have you missed Jesus? All it takes is faith, even the size of a mustard seed.
