...because we sure ain't gonna have one here in Texas. Waaaaah!
I grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with a view of the Rocky Mountains from our back porch. Snow was a normal occurrence from October through April. I loved it! I loved playing in it with my sister and our friends. I loved watching it fall from the sky, floating gently to the earth. Ahhh. I loved snow!!
'Course, I didn't have to shovel it. Or worry about driving in it. Snow was simply beautiful and fun to me.
Living in Texas the past 25 years, I really miss snow. Every winter I wait with anticipation, hoping...praying!...it will snow! Usually, though, I'm disappointed. I can count the number of measurable snowfalls we've had on one hand. Oh sure, we have a few flurries every now and again, and we've had some nasty ice storms from time to time, but snow that actually sticks to the ground for a few hours let alone a few days are few and far between.
So, I'll have to keep dreaming 'cuz the weather man says "no snow." I'll leave you with the words to the song ol' Bing sang so wonderfully:
"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten,
and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white!"
